First hospital experience and I was completely blown away with the service and professionalism. The staff were friendly and very informative, nothing was to much trouble. The doctor has done a wonderful job, not that I remember any of it. Well done Mater for a fabulous first experience.

I came in to have my colonoscopy done and while I waited, the nurse went and brought a blanket for me. The receptionist and all the staff including the Doctors and Nurses have been really good to me. I guess for those that give them 1 star and complain about the time frame of waiting, take a look, they are not sitting and playing games. I have no issues with them and I would rather come here than other Hospital.

Firstly thank you to the ambulance staff who came and picked me up from a bad fall today. Every member of the Mater staff from specialists, doctors, nurses, xray staff everyone was flawless. Quick to treat me, kind and beautiful bedside manner. The emergency area was clean and tidy. Fantastic service from a very talented team. I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you

First encounter with the Eye Clinic bookings girl was very disappointing indeed in fact VERY VERY POOR she didn’t really care about my existing conditions and the fact that I’m up the north coast …we don’t make exceptions!!!! I simply cannot do an 8.30 am appointment I’m aged live alone can’t drive home!!! She can’t change my appointment because the Doctors have to have Lunch !!!!! I agree with that but the PA can get me in to oncology at 11.30 for my ongoing cancer visits…I simply asked for another day and a later time OR an early afternoon booking !!! No go…get here or cancel it …We don’t make exceptions!!!! so she cancelled it WHAT …they definitely need a more service orientated booking person in the Eye Clinic because the one there now has a computer screen and that’s that ..you’re just nothing more than a number to fill in the gaps in her screen without any consideration for my wheelchair access transport difficulties existing medical issues NOTHING …No doubt the doctors and nurses are Marvellous and we love them all but time to get an individual who can accommodate your needs with a simple time is required ….I’m not alone she’s not helping the hospital crisis or me going blind one bit …just don’t care !!!!! Get someone who is sympathetic towards the needs of people especially the aged !!!

Look, I can only speak to my experience and no one else’s. I do not understand all the 1-star reviews. I’ve never been to a hospital before as an adult. My GP said to go to the ED to have an infection looked at.

I packed some headphones and a power bank and left at 8pm prepared to possibly spend all night sitting in the ED waiting. Triage sent me straight to admin who booked me in. I waited maybe 45 minutes during which time I had swabs and my BP taken. Then I was called to be assessed, the doctor took my bloods straight away and then within 30 minutes I had four X-rays of my leg taken.

The nurse noticed I was cold and offered me a blanket and a sandwich as they thought I might have to start fasting from 2am and I had not had dinner.

The doctor then placed an IV tube in my arm and started antibiotics and told me I would be moved to a bed and booked in yo see an orthopaedic surgeon in the morning.

Within an hour I had a bed and my new nurse got me a jug of water, extra blankets, sone apple juice and Panadol and familiarised me with my bed (honestly felt like I had my own room).

The next morning I woke up and was seen by at least three different orthopaedic surgeons and told I had to stay for another 24 hours on IV antibiotics as the position of my wound posed too many complications to operate on unless absolutely necessary.

My nurses offered me everything I needed from a tooth brush, and soap to shower and stay hygienic to answering all my questions and checking in on me very efficiently.

The food service is out of this world! It’s literally better than some hotel/motels I’ve stayed in! I’m not going to lie I feasted like a king throughout my stay
